Elopements

A wedding day with nobody telling you what happens next.

Two of you, or a handful of the people you actually like. Quoted after a call, because no two elopements are the same job.

Why there is no package price

Thirty minutes on a quiet beach and a half-day are not the same day.

Every elopement is different — thirty minutes on a quiet beach and a half-day with a handful of your favourite people are not the same job. So I get on a call first, work out what the day actually looks like, and quote it from there. It starts at $1,200 per hour, and the call is genuinely to work out what you want rather than to sell you up.

One thing worth naming early: a lot of people say "elopement" and describe a party of thirty. That is a small wedding, which is a wonderful thing and a different quote. Saying it plainly on a call takes two minutes and saves everyone a surprise.

Why I want these

Laid back is not a marketing word here.

I'll tell you straight: elopements and couples sessions are my favourite work. Not because they pay well — though they do — but because of what they are not. Two hundred people and a schedule someone else wrote is a stressful way to spend a day, and it shows in photographs.

A small ceremony where nobody is being managed produces the kind of images I actually want to make. If your instinct is to keep it small, you and your photographer already want the same thing.

Photo and video together

One team, not two vendors meeting for the first time.

I shoot both stills and video — I started in video in 2012 — and I work alongside local photographers and videographers I have already shot with. That matters more than it sounds. Two vendors who have never met can spend your ceremony quietly competing for the same angle.

If you want both covered, say so on the call and I will put the pairing together rather than leaving you to source and hope.

Small, quiet, unhurried

Frequently asked

Elopement questions

Usually two people, sometimes a handful of the closest ones. If your plan involves thirty guests that is a small wedding, which is fine. I just quote it differently, which is why every elopement starts with a call.

Yes. I shoot both, and I work with local photographers and videographers I have shot alongside before, so you get a team that already knows how to share a moment instead of two vendors meeting for the first time on your day.

Next step

Book a call about your day.

Fifteen minutes on the phone and I can quote it properly.
