Booking it properly
Book the forty-five, not the thirty.
This is the one piece of advice I give out most, and it costs me nothing to give: if you have young children, thirty minutes is not enough. It is enough to get the posed group shot. It is not enough for a four-year-old to stop performing and start being themselves, and the difference between those two things is visible in every frame.
Forty-five minutes also buys something parents rarely think to ask for — individual portraits of each child alongside the group photo. One day one of those is going to be the photograph on the table at a graduation, and it will not be the one where they are standing in a line with their cousins.

The walk
Everyone walking the shoreline together. It is the wide establishing frame — the one that says Hawaii rather than "a beach".

Kids being kids
Running from the shore break, messing with each other, ignoring the adults entirely. The candid ones people end up printing.

Each parent with each child
Individually, not just as a group. I shoot these deliberately because I know what they become later.

Siblings, on their own
Without the parents in frame. Usually the photograph the kids themselves want a copy of.

The quiet one of the parents
Married couples get a few frames of just the two of you — rings, hands, a real laugh. You are in this family too.
Big groups
Thirty-five people and eleven kids is not a problem.
It has been done. A recent review describes a group of that size and calls the result "an impressive feat" — just me and an assistant, patient enough that nobody felt rushed and assertive enough that it actually happened.
Large reunions usually want more than an hour. I built a 90-minute session for one recently and it is not listed anywhere — message me with your headcount and I will size it properly rather than squeezing you into a package that does not fit.

Forty-five minutes. Thirty is enough time to get the group shot but not enough to let a toddler warm up, and a rushed toddler is visible in every frame. Forty-five leaves me room for individual photos of each kid as well as the group.
